We depend on visual journalists to show us the world

I study photographers and the way various social constructs, such as traditions, organizational rules, laws, and so on, affect the images we see.

I am particularly interested in the way the American judicial system is visually portrayed in mass media.  This means I study things like mug shots, perp walks, cameras in the court, and police accountability video.

I have an account on Academia.Edu where you can download some of my articles and book chapters.
